This Pink Drink with Vanilla Cold Foam is a Starbucks copycat recipe of the viral pink drink made with passion tea, coconut milk, and vanilla.

The pink drink with vanilla cold foam on a cutting board all after stirred well making the color pink lighter.

If I’m not getting a latte, cold brew, or iced coffee at Starbucks, then I’m almost always going to get a venti Pink Drink, the drink that social media has been obsessed with. Since the pink drink isn’t really a new drink anymore, my local Starbucks does not currently have the viral TikTok drink on its menu. So, I’m forced to order from the “Starbucks secret menu.” Ordering a secret menu drink from the Starbucks menu is basically using separate components available on the menu to make your own custom drinks that aren’t available on the official menu.

The Starbucks version of the regular pink drink consisted of a strawberry acai refresher base drink with freeze-dried strawberries and coconut milk. According to the Starbucks website, the strawberry acai base is mainly made of white grape juice, green coffee flavor, and a form of stevia sweetener.

There are always some new variations of TikTok Starbucks drinks and several versions of the pink drink. I’ve seen some using heavy cream, strawberry puree, pink cold foam, matcha cold foam, whipped cream, pumps of raspberry syrup, etc., etc.

My version is my favorite of all the cold drinks on the Starbucks menu, and I now order it as a Starbucks secret menu item. I prefer my pink drink with a base of passion tango tea instead of the strawberry acai refresher. I also like either coconut milk or a vanilla cold foam topping. However, for this recipe, I decided to combine both into a vanilla coconut milk cold foam.

Ingredients for Pink Drink with Vanilla Cold Foam

Ingredients for the pink drink and vanilla cold foam shown with a bottle of coconut milk, a bowl of honey with a honey dipper, fresh strawberries in a blue crystal bowl, and loose leaf passion tango tea in a clear jar with a scooper.

These pink drink ingredients are super simple and available in most grocery stores. If you can’t find the Tazo Passion Tea, they do sell it on Amazon.

Tazo passion herbal tea: I’ve loved this passion tea long before the pink drink came along. The tea is an herbal tea with hibiscus, orange peel, rose hips, and passion fruit flavors. It also has a subtle cinnamon flavor, which I love. Because of that fruity cinnamon flavor, it’s a great transition drink going into fall when you want all the fall flavors like cinnamon, but you still want iced tea because it’s still a billion degrees outside.

Sweetener of choice: Use your favorite here. I like to use honey or stevia, but regular sugar, agave nectar, or whatever you like in whatever amount you like is totally fine. I’m not big on a sweet drinks, but I do like some sweetness in my passion tea.

Sliced strawberries: I used fresh strawberries in this recipe because I like them better than freeze-dried ones. And also, freeze-dried strawberries are pretty expensive.

Coconut milk: I used coconut milk to make my vanilla cold foam. I will say it’s not quite as foamy as regular cold foam. This is because cold foam is best made with fat-free milk, and coconut milk has some fat, which weighs down the foam a little bit. This isn’t a big flaw or anything, but just don’t expect the fluffiest foam because of this. I used light coconut milk that has less fat to promote extra foaminess.

Vanilla extract: Just make sure it’s 100% real vanilla extract. You can also use vanilla paste instead if you have that handy. You can also use a few pumps of vanilla syrup if you prefer.

Instructions for Pink Drink with Vanilla Cold Foam

First, you’ll start by brewing the tea to the package’s directions in hot water. If you are going to sweeten, add your favorite sweetener to taste while the tea is hot. The tea will transform into a gorgeous color of deep red. While the tea is seeping, you’ll want to make the vanilla cold foam.

Make the foam by frothing coconut milk with a splash of vanilla. To froth, I use a milk frother that was pretty inexpensive. If you don’t have one and don’t want to buy one, you can also froth the milk by using an immersion blender stick or a French press. If you use the French press, you’ll add the milk and vanilla and then use the pump on the lid to pump the milk up and down until fully frothed.

Then, fill a large glass with ice and pour the passion tea over the ice cubes leaving a little headspace at the top of the glass. Add your sliced strawberries and layer the vanilla cold foam on top and enjoy!
