    Why This Recipe Works

    • Sweet and nutty flavor: The Disaronno Fizz features the distinct flavor of Disaronno amaretto liqueur, which is sweet, nutty, and delicious.
    • Refreshing and bubbly: This cocktail combines the sweet and nutty flavor of amaretto with the zing of lemon juice and the effervescent quality of club soda, resulting in a light and bubbly drink that’s perfect for any occasion.
    • Easy to make: With just three ingredients, the it’s a simple and easy-to-make cocktail that’s perfect for both novice and experienced home bartenders.

    Ingredient Notes

Ingredients for the cocktail spread out on a wooden cutting board.
    • Amaretto is a sweet almond-flavored liqueur that’s perfect for cocktails. Look for a high-quality brand such as Disaronno, which has a distinct nutty and sweet flavor and is widely available at most liquor stores.
    • Lemon juice is used in the classic cocktail, Amaretto Sour, to balance the sweetness of the amaretto and to add a fresh, citrusy flavor to the cocktail. It does the same for an Amaretto Fizz. Use a squeeze of fresh lemon juice rather than bottled juice, which will taste much better in this cocktail.
    • Soda water adds a bubbly and effervescent quality to the drink, as well as a subtle flavor that compliments the amaretto liqueur.
    • Garnish with lemon and maraschino cocktail cherries. This will add a pop of color and a burst of flavor to the drink. When using maraschino cocktail cherries, make sure to opt for a high quality one, like Luxardo, instead of the bright red cheap maraschino cherries.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Steps 1 and 2 showing adding the amaretto and lemon juice.

Step 1: Add the Disaronno amaretto to a cocktail shaker.

Step 2: Add the lemon juice.

Steps 3 and 4 showing shaking the cocktail shaker and straining into a cocktail glass.

Step 3: Add ice cubes to the shaker and shake until well chilled.

Step 4: Strain into a cocktail glass.

Steps 5 and 6 showing adding soda water to cocktail glass and garnishing with a lemon slice and cocktail cherries.

Step 5: Top with soda water.

Step 6: Garnish with cherries and a lemon slice, if desired.

    Ideas for serving

If you’re needing some ideas on how to serve a Disaronno Amaretto Fizz, here are a few ideas:

    • Use it in place of mimosas at your next brunch.
    • For really hot days, make a frozen version by blending the ingredients together with ice.
    • For the holidays, serve the Amaretto Fizz in a festive glass and garnish it with a cinnamon stick for a seasonal touch.
    • An Amaretto Fizz is a fairly low-alcohol drink – for an extra punch, try adding a shot of whiskey to make a twist on an amaretto meets whiskey sour fizz cocktail.

    Tips

To adjust the sweetness of the cocktail, you can add a dash of simple syrup, maple syrup, or agave syrup. To decrease the amount of sweetness, add more soda water or decrease the amaretto slightly.

    FAQ

Can I use lime juice instead of lemon juice?

Yes, you can use lime juice instead of lemon juice in a Disaronno Fizz if you prefer the taste of lime or don’t have lemon juice on hand. Lime juice has a similar tartness and citrusy flavor to lemon juice and can work just as well in this cocktail.

Just keep in mind that it will give the drink a slightly different taste and color. You may want to adjust the amount of lime juice to your taste preferences and garnish with a lime wedge instead of a lemon slice.

    How do you store amaretto?

To ensure that amaretto stays fresh and maintains its quality, it’s best to store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. A pantry or cupboard is a good option.

Once opened, the bottle should be tightly sealed and stored upright to prevent the alcohol from evaporating or oxidizing. Opened amaretto can be stored for up to 6 months, as long as it’s stored properly.

What kind of soda water should I use in an amaretto fizz?

When making an Amaretto Fizz, it’s best to use plain soda water or club soda, as they don’t have any added flavorings or sweeteners. This will ensure that the soda water doesn’t overpower the nutty and sweet flavor of the amaretto liqueur.

Using chilled soda water will ensure that the drink is as refreshing as possible. If you prefer a stronger carbonation, you can use a SodaStream to make your own soda water at home.
