Ingredient Notes

It just takes a few ingredients to shake up a Pecan Pie Martini, so let’s go over them quickly.
- Whipped cream vodka – this is available at most liquor stores. Common brands that I see at my local stores are Pinnacle and Smirnoff. You could also try bourbon to make a Bourbon Pecan Pie Martini.
- Pecan cream liqueur – I used Sugarlands Butter Pecan Sippin’ Cream pictured below – see FAQ for more details on where to find it. But, you can use any cream-based pecan liqueur that you can find.
- Caramel syrup – I specifically used a salted caramel one from Torani that I found at my local grocery store. You can also find it on Amazon. Simple syrup will do, but you won’t get as much of a nutty taste. Chocolate syrup is another good substitute.
- Heavy whipping cream – adding this allows the cocktail to have a whipped quality after shaking in the cocktail shaker.
Step-by-Step Instructions

1 – Add the whipped cream vodka and caramel syrup to a cocktail shaker.
2 – Add the pecan cream liqueur and heavy cream.

3 – Add a handful of ice, shake until well chilled, and strain into a coupe or martini glass.
4 – Garnish with candied whole pecans or pralines.
Expert Tips
- Add the ice to the shaker after all the other ingredients to prevent the drink from becoming diluted.
- Make sure that your whipping cream is very cold – cold whipping cream “whips” better than warmer whipping cream when shaken.
- Instead of candied pecans for garnish, roll the rim in a bit of maple syrup and then crushed graham crackers.
- Try drizzling a little caramel sauce on the inside of the glass before straining.
- Coupe or martini glasses are the best to use for this cocktail.
Recipe FAQ
Grocery stores often carry them in the snack aisle, especially in the south. You can also candied pecans on Amazon.
It should be available at a well-stocked liquor store or national chain like Total Wine (which is where I got mine).
I used Sugarlands Butter Pecan Sippin’ Cream and they have a store finder on their website to find their products in your local area. I’ve included a close-up picture of what I used below.

Butter Pecan Pie Martini Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 ½ ounce whipped cream vodka
- 1 ounce pecan cream liqueur (like Sugarlands Butter Pecan Sippin' Cream)
- ¼ ounce caramel syrup
- 1 ounce heavy whipping cream
- 2-3 whole candied pecans for garnish, optional
Instructions
- Add vodka, pecan cream liqueur, caramel syrup, and heavy cream to cocktail shaker.
- Add ice and shake until well chilled.
- Strain into a cocktail glass.
- Garnish with candied pecans, if using.
Notes
- When shaking this cocktail up in a cocktail shaker with ice, add the ice after all the other ingredients to prevent the drink from becoming diluted.
- Make sure that your whipping cream is very cold – cold whipping cream “whips” better when shaken. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to chill your other ingredients as well like the vodka and butter pecan cream liqueur.
- If you don’t have candied pecans for garnish, you can wet the rim of a martini glass and roll in crushed graham crackers before you strain the cocktail into the glass. Or, you can drizzle a little caramel sauce on the inside of the glass before straining.

LOVE pecans and especially pecan pies, but I can’t do heavy cream. Suggestions for what would be the best non-dairy cream substitute for this recipe?
Melissa
I would try using full fat canned coconut milk in place of the heavy cream. I haven’t tested it that way, but I think that should work. There may be some mild separation, so try shaking it a little bit longer than you normally would. The flavor should still be on point.
If you try it that way, let me know how it turns out!

I would personally use a cashew cream because it’s a milder flavor. Still nutty but won’t overpower the pecan like coconut will. Otherwise, there’s a good plant based heavy cream alternative made from lentils and coconut oil among other things like emulsifiers and sugars and extra fats. I believe it’s a small red box from the brand Country Crock. It has very little flavor, perfect heavy cream alternative you can use for just about anything!
Melissa
Omg, thank you, Kaysa! Very good point about coconut milk, I will be looking for the cashew cream and the Plant Cream from Country Crock next time I head to the grocery store. I’ll give it a try with this recipe and will update the post with your recommendation (credited, of course). Thanks again 🙂

Seriously tastes just like a pecan pie!
