    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This baked brie is one of the easiest appetizers you can make! It’s an ideal addition to a cheese board and pairs beautifully with a glass of wine or a seasonal cocktail, making it the perfect choice for any gathering.

    Ingredient Notes

Ingredients for baked brie including brie wheel, fresh figs, honey, rosemary, and fig jam.

Brie is a soft, white cheese with a bloomy rind, creamy interior, and funky-flavored exterior. Brie ranges in price and quality, so choose a less expensive wheel for this recipe since you will be baking it alongside other ingredients. A small wheel of Brie cheese should be fairly easy to come by in most grocery stores.

Fig jam is a sweet and fruity condiment that often accompanies various kinds of cheeses. Fig jam has a slight crunch to it from the seeds of the fig which gives it a unique texture.

Fresh figs have a mildly sweet flavor reminiscent of honey and berries. I like to add both jam and fresh fruit on top of the brie for a nice variety of textures and different concentrations of flavor.

A drizzle of honey gives this recipe an extra layer of sweetness and complexity. Any honey you prefer works great for this recipe.

A fresh rosemary sprig is an optional garnish that will add a light woodsy essence. Alternatively, you can roughly chop the rosemary and sprinkle it for a burst of greenery.

    Substitutions and Additions

Add toasted chopped walnuts, pecans, or different nuts to your baked brie with fig jam for another layer of flavor and crunch

Camembert cheese can easily substitute brie in a pinch since the cheeses are very similar.

You can use apple butter, apricot jam, or other fruit preserves if you can’t find fig jam or prefer different jams.

Instead of rosemary, try other fresh herbs like fresh thyme or sage.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Steps 1 and 2 showing scoring top of cheese with a knife and placing on a baking dish.

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and while you wait, score the top of the brie wheel diagonally in one direction and then in the other direction, creating a crisscross pattern with a small knife.

Step 2: Add the brie wheel to an oven-safe dish lined with a piece of parchment paper. The parchment paper will help you transfer the hot cheese to a serving platter after it comes out of the oven.

Steps 3 and 4 showing spreading of fig jam and layering fresh figs on top of brie wheel.

Step 3: Top the scored wheel of brie with a few heaping tablespoons of fig jam in an even layer. Place your cheese wheel topped with the jam into the oven on the middle rack and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the brie looks like it’s melting.

Step 4: Once you’ve removed the brie from the oven, transfer it to a serving dish or platter and layer on sliced fresh figs.

Steps 5 and 6 showing drizzling honey and adding a rosemary sprig on top of cheese wheel.

Step 5-6: Drizzle honey over the fresh figs and add your rosemary garnish if you are using it. Serve the baked hot brie with fig jam alongside crackers, baguette slices, fresh fruit, and nuts.

    Top Tips

    • Use a baking dish lined with parchment paper will make it easier to move the hot cheese to the serving platter.
    • Scoring the cheese will help the fig jam and honey to seep into the brie wheel.

What to Serve with Baked Brie

Serve warm brie with fig jam alongside things like a baguette, your favorite crackers, apple slices, grapes, and/or charcuterie meats. I like to toast my baguette in my air fryer, like I did with my garlic bread and goat cheese crostini.

    Leftovers and Reheating

If you’re lucky enough to have any leftovers, baked brie stores well and is easy to reheat. Transfer any leftover brie to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2-3 days. Store it in a separate container from any leftover accompaniments like bread, crackers, etc.

When you’re ready to enjoy it again, place the brie in a small baking dish and re-warm it in a 350°F oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until it’s melted and gooey again. If you want to use the microwave, you can reheat leftover baked brie in 30-second intervals. Keep in mind that the texture of the melted cheese is more likely to change if you choose to use the microwave.

    Brie Cheese FAQ

    Is the brie rind edible?

Yes, you can eat the brie rind; it is part of the cheese’s flavor profile! When making this recipe for baked brie with fig jam, keeping the rind on the cheese is helpful because it prevents it from running all over as it melts.

If you don’t like the idea about eating the white rind, you can scrape some of the top rind off with a small knife before baking. Be careful as to how much you shave off – you might lose some of that precious gooey cheese in the process!

    What does brie taste like?

Brie has a mild buttery flavor and is a creamy cheese. The rind of brie often has a touch of funk with umami and mushroom flavor notes.
