    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • It’s one of the easiest appetizers you can make!
    • It’s the perfect addition to a cheese or charcuterie board.
    • It pairs nicely with a glass of wine or a seasonal cocktail making it the perfect party food.

    Ingredient Notes

Ingredients for baked brie including brie wheel, fresh figs, honey, rosemary, and fig jam.
    • Brie is a soft, white cheese with a bloomy rind, creamy interior, and funky-flavored exterior. Brie ranges in price and quality, so choose a less expensive wheel for this baked brie with sweet fig jam recipe since you will be baking it alongside other ingredients. Brie should be fairly easy to come by in your local grocery store.
    • Fig jam is a sweet and fruity condiment that often accompanies various kinds of cheeses. Fig jam has a slight crunch to it from the seeds of the fig that give it a unique texture.
    • Fresh figs have a mildly sweet flavor reminiscent of honey and berries. Like fig jam, fresh figs are great with cheeses and even charcuterie or can be added to salads or baked into a tart.
    • Honey is great at complimenting the flavor of fig and brie, a drizzle of honey gives this baked brie with fig jam an extra layer of sweetness and complexity. Any honey you prefer works great for this recipe as long as you can easily drizzle it!
    • Rosemary Sprig is an optional garnish that is aesthetically pleasing and will add a light essence of woodsy, fresh rosemary to this baked brie with fig jam. Alternatively, you can roughly chop the rosemary and sprinkle it for a burst of greenery.

    Substitutions and Additions

    • Add toasted chopped walnuts, pecans, or different nuts to your baked brie with fig jam for another layer of flavor and crunch
    • Camembert cheese can easily substitute brie in a pinch since the cheeses are very similar.
    • You can use apricot, raspberry, or apricot jam if you can’t find fig jam or prefer different jams.
    • Aside from rosemary, other types of fresh herbs go great as garnish – herbs like fresh thyme or sage also work well.

    How to Make This Recipe

Steps 1 and 2 showing scoring top of cheese with a knife and placing on a baking dish.

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and while you wait, score the top of the brie wheel diagonally in one direction and then in the other direction, creating a crisscross pattern with a small knife.

Step 2: Add the brie wheel to an oven-safe dish lined with a piece of parchment paper. The parchment paper will help you transfer the hot cheese to a serving platter, if desired.

Steps 3 and 4 showing spreading of fig jam and layering fresh figs on top of brie wheel.

Step 3: Top the scored wheel of brie with a few heaping tablespoons of fig jam in an even layer. Place your cheese wheel of brie with fig jam into the oven on the middle rack and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the brie looks like it’s melting.

Step 4: Once you’ve removed the brie from the oven, transfer it to a serving dish or platter and layer on sliced fresh figs.

Steps 5 and 6 showing drizzling honey and adding a rosemary sprig on top of cheese wheel.

Step 5-6: Drizzle honey over the fresh figs and add your rosemary garnish if you are using it.

Serve the baked hot brie with fig jam alongside crackers, baguette slices, fresh fruit, and nuts. Enjoy!

    Top Tips

    • Use a baking dish lined with parchment paper will make it easier to move the hot cheese to the serving platter.
    • Scoring the cheese will help the fig jam and honey to seep into the brie wheel.

    Recipe FAQs

Do you eat the rind of the brie cheese, or should I remove the brie before baking?

Yes, you can eat the brie rind; it is part of the cheese’s flavor profile! When making this recipe for baked brie with fig jam, keeping the rind on the cheese is helpful because it prevents it from running all over as it melts.

If you aren’t crazy about eating the white rind, you can scrape some of the top rind off with a small knife before baking. Be careful as to how much you shave off – you might lose some of that precious gooey cheese in the process!

What to serve with baked brie?

Serve warm brie with fig jam alongside bread, crackers, fruit, and nuts.

    What does brie taste like?

Brie has a mild buttery flavor and is a creamy cheese. The rind of brie is often has a touch of funk with umami and mushroom flavor notes.

    Can you reheat baked brie?

Yes, reheat leftover baked brie in 30-second intervals in the microwave. Make sure to reheat it in a bowl, as the cheese will become runnier as it melts.

    What crackers go with brie?

Brie goes excellent with water crackers with sesame seeds, whole wheat crackers, or multigrain crackers.

Specifically, I’m a huge fan of Top Seedz Crackers – they were served on many of the cheese boards I ate when I went to the Finger Lakes, and I’m obsessed.

I’m also a big fan of the Crunchmaster Crackers – in addition to Amazon, you can also find them in bulk at Costco.

As always, enjoy brie with your favorite cracker for the best results!
