Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 1 ounce gin
  • ½ ounce spiced chai simple syrup (store bought or see notes for homemade version)
  • Orange peel and/or whole spices  cinnamon sticks, anise pods, etc.

Instructions

  • Add the Campari, gin, and syrup to an empty mixing glass.
  • Add ice and stir until well chilled.
  • Strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice cube(s).
  • Garnish with an orange peel and/or whole spices, if desired.

Notes

Chai Simple Syrup:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 bag Chai tea
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
Instructions for syrup:
  1. Add the water to a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, turn the heat to low, and add tea bag. Brew according to tea package's instructions (typically 5 minutes).
  2. Remove the tea bag and add the brown sugar. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Allow to cool completely and pour into an airtight container. Keep in fridge for up to 3 weeks.
Tips:
  • For a sweeter cocktail, add a bit more chai simple syrup or swap the Campari for Aperol.
  • Add your ice to your mixing glass after you add your ingredients to prevent over-diluting your drink.
