Homemade Pumpkin Spice Simple Syrup Recipe

Get in the pumpkin spice season state of mind with this recipe. It's the perfect addition to elevate your coffee, lattes, and cocktails for the fall!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar (loosely packed)
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 6 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup water

Instructions
 

  • Add the water, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice to a small saucepan over medium-high heat. 
  • Bring to a gentle boil. Turn the heat to low and allow to simmer for 10 minutes, whisking occasionally until brown sugar dissolves. 
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. 
  • Pour into an airtight container, like a mason jar. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into the container, if a thinner texture is desired. Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. 

Notes

To make your own pumpkin pie spice blend:
  • Mix together 3 tablespoons cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground ginger, 1.5 teaspoons ground nutmeg, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, and 1 teaspoon allspice in an airtight container.
  • Adjust the ratios to your preference.
​Expert tips:
  • Be sure to use 100% pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie mix - they have similar labels, so make sure you're getting the right ingredients.
  • If you want a thinner syrup and less texture, strain it through a fine mesh sieve into your container.
  • If you don’t have dark brown sugar, you can use light brown sugar, granulated white sugar, turbinado sugar (Sugar in the Raw), or demerara sugar.
