Add the water to a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, turn the heat to low, and add tea bag. Brew according to tea package's instructions (typically 5 minutes).
Remove the tea bag and add the brown sugar. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Allow to cool completely and pour into an airtight container.
Tips:
- Brew the tea exactly how the package directs - if you leave it too long, it can become bitter. I typically brew mine for 5 minutes.
- Make sure to allow the syrup to cool completely to room temperature before bottling.
- Add a splash of baking extract, such as anise, almond, or vanilla extract, for extra flavor.
- For a more intense Chai flavor, add an extra tea bag or two to the mix.
