This Strawberry Elderflower Mocktail Fizz is made with mint, strawberries, lime juice, and elderflower cordial (syrup). You’ll love the irresistible combination of sweet, tart, floral, and effervescent bubbles in this elderflower-based mocktail recipe.

Non-alcoholic beverages can be a delicious way to enjoy a “cocktail” without all of the consequences that come with alcohol. Another flavorful non-alcoholic drink you should check out is my recipe for Passion Fruit Lemonade Mocktail.

    Why This Recipe Works

    • It’s refreshing and light! It’d be perfect for sipping on a Spring picnic or poolside in the summer heat. It’d also be a great mocktail for Dry January.
    • It’s super simple – it only requires 5 ingredients and few minutes to make. No equipment like a cocktail shaker required!
    • It’s a muddled cocktail. Muddling the mint and strawberries with the elderflower syrup helps to extract all the flavors so they can mingle together for maximum flavor.

    Ingredient Notes

Ingredients for the mocktail scattered on a wicker tray.
    • Fresh mint – To save some money on fresh mint, try buying an actual mint plant, which you can often find in the produce section of the grocery store. Also, I found a HUGE bag that was very inexpensive at my local Asian grocery store.
    • Fresh strawberries – Overripe strawberries are perfect for this mocktail, so it can be a great way to use up some produce before it goes bad.
    • Elderflower syrup – This might be a bit harder to come by, but you can make an easy homemade version that is way more economical than buying elderflower simple syrup or cordial and uses elderflower tea. But, store-bought syrup can be used. See FAQ below for more info on where to find it.
    • Lime juice – I always prefer freshly squeezed lime juice, but if you must use bottled, go for a lime juice that is 100% juice and not from concentrate for the best flavor. If you don’t have lime juice on hand, fresh lemon juice would be equally delicious.
    • Sparkling water – This adds a bit of fizz to the drink. I used plain soda water from my SodaStream, which I love. You can certainly use store bought sparkling water and even flavored sparkling water. I think that La Croix’s Limoncello flavored sparkling water would go perfectly in this mocktail. (Their limoncello flavor does not actually contain limoncello and is non-alcoholic like their other flavors.) Tonic water would also be a great substitute.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Steps 1 and two showing adding the strawberries and mint and then muddling it all together.

Step 1: Add strawberry slices, fresh mint, and elderflower syrup to a highball glass.

Step 2: Muddle with a muddler or a spoon until most of the strawberries are smashed and released their juice.

Steps 3 and 4 showing adding the lime juice and the soda water.

Step 3: Add lime juice to the glass.

Step 4: Add ice cubes and top with sparkling water.

Steps 5 and 6 showing stirring the mocktail and garnishing with mint.

Step 5: Stir gently, bringing the spoon up and down to evenly distribute the flavors.

Step 6: Garnish with extra mint and lime slices (optional).

    Tips and FAQ

Where do I find elderflower syrup?

If you don’t want to make your own homemade elderflower syrup, you can find it on Amazon. I’ve also seen in store options for elderflower syrup at Ikea and World Market.

What other fruits can I use in place of strawberries?

Lots of other fruits would go really well with the lime and elderflower flavors. For example, black or blueberries, raspberries, peaches, pineapple, passion fruit, pears, plums, mango, and more.

Can I make a big batch to a crowd?

Yes, you definitely can. Summer parties would be a great time to serve this elderflower mocktail. Measurements and special instructions for making a big batch is located in the notes section of the recipe card below.

Can I turn this into a cocktail?

Of course, making this drink into elderflower cocktails would be super easy by adding a shot of vodka or gin. You could also swap the elderflower syrup for St. Germain elderflower liqueur. You can also swap the sparkling water for hard seltzer as well.
