Honey and Hoisin Grilled Chicken Skewers

  • 68 wooden or reusable grilling skewers
  • 1 lb. chicken tenderloins
  • 2 tsp. Chinese five spice powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flake (more or less depending on desired heat)
  • 2 tbsp. sriracha
  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 12 tbsp. sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
  • 1 scallion, chopped (optional for garnish)


  1. If using wooden skewers, soak skewers in water for at least 20-30 minutes. Preheat grill to 400 degrees.
  2. Season chicken tenderloins with Chinese five spice, salt, and olive oil. Skewer chicken tenderloins on skewers. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until done.
  3. Whisk together hoisin, soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Set aside. Mix together sriracha and mayonnaise. Set aside.
  4. Drizzle hoisin and honey mixture over chicken skewers. Top with sesame seeds and chopped scallion, if using. Serve with sriracha mayo.
